# Conversion Flow

Seamlessly convert traditional securities into tokenized securities and vice versa through Backpack Securities deposits and withdrawals.

<table><thead><tr><th width="128.9375">Action</th><th>Result</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Withdrawal</td><td>Traditional securities on Backpack are tokenized and withdrawn to Solana in the form of tokenized securities.</td></tr><tr><td>Deposit</td><td>Converted into traditional securities holdings.</td></tr></tbody></table>

The process is designed to be as straightforward as depositing or withdrawing a stablecoin between a wallet and an exchange.

### Before You Start

Open [**Backpack Exchange**](https://backpack.exchange/) and log in to access the securities deposit and withdrawal flows.

To convert between tokenized securities (onchain) and a security entitlement (traditional brokerage), you need:

1. A Backpack Exchange account with completed KYC
2. A Solana wallet

> New to Backpack Exchange? See [Create a New Account on Backpack Exchange](https://support.backpack.exchange/exchange/exchange-account/create-a-new-account).

### Withdrawal: Moving Securities Onchain

Withdrawing a tokenized security from Backpack Exchange to Solana follows the same flow as a standard Solana withdrawal from Backpack Exchange.

An estimated platform fee of approximately $0.50 applies and is paid in the tokenized security being withdrawn. There are no additional fees.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Important:** If you're withdrawing to an external exchange or other platform, carefully verify that the destination supports the asset and **confirm the token contract address before transferring**. Sending the asset to an unsupported destination or using an incorrect contract address **may result in a loss of funds**.
{% endhint %}

### Deposit: Converting Back to Traditional Securities

Depositing a supported tokenized security into Backpack Exchange from your Solana wallet converts it back into traditional securities holdings.

Backpack does not charge any fees for deposits. However, you may still need to pay the applicable Solana network fee from your wallet.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Important:** Always verify the token’s contract address before depositing. **Tokens with a contract address different from the one shown on the Backpack deposit page may not be recoverable.**
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://support.backpack.exchange/backpack-securities/tokenized-securities/conversion-flow.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
